We're Staying Put!
The Zion Area Chamber of Commerce is changing its name and structure. The new entity, called Lake County’s Lakeshore Chamber & Visitors Bureau, will encompass consolidated efforts by our four municipalities (Beach Park, Wadsworth, Winthrop Harbor and Zion) to increase tourism in the area.
A letter announcing this change was recently sent to all area businesses and mistakenly stated there would be one Chamber for the municipalities.
That is incorrect.
The Winthrop Harbor Chamber of Commerce will continue to operate as a separate entity but will participate as a member of the new group.
As a Chamber we will continue to work closely with the Village’s Economic Development Office and the Winthrop Harbor Tourism Board. As ever, our efforts remain concentrated on supporting and enhancing the businesses located in Winthrop Harbor.
In addition, we look forward to joining the new Lake County’s Lakeshore Chamber & Visitor’s Bureau so as to jointly promote and increase customer traffic for our regional businesses.

The Winthrop Harbor Chamber of Commerce would like to welcome all new residents and visitors to our beautiful ever-changing village of Winthrop Harbor, Illinois!
Our Village is a growing community nestled on the shores of Lake Michigan and has the distinction of being the northeastern most point in Illinois.
While J. H. Van Vlissingen made plans for development in 1883, Winthrop Harbor was not platted until 1899, when the Winthrop Harbor and Dock Company assumed ownership of more than two thousand acres. The village was incorporated in 1901.
Winthrop Harbor is a Village rich in history and opportunity. In 1989, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources opened the North Point Marina - the largest Marina on the Great Lakes with over 1,500 boat slips, plus public beaches, recreation facilities and "second-to-none" charter fishing and the Yacht Club. The marina includes a 240-acre forest preserve.
As you travel around our Village and surrounding areas, you will notice the many wonderful attractions in our area, such as parks, historic sites, churches, golf courses, shops, restaurants and beautiful tree lined streets.
The Winthrop Harbor Chamber of Commerce Board looks forward to continued service to the community, businesses, residents and visitors of our fine Village.
