Time For Illinois To Be A Growth State
Gov. Bruce Rauner’s Illinois Turnaround agenda is all about reviving Illinois. For too long we’ve been at the bottom of every list in terms of growth, business climate, prosperity, etc. The system is broken and the reforms modeled in the Illinois Turnaround seek to improve the system.
The Illinois Turnaround Agenda addresses among other things, workers’ compensation reform, unemployment insurance reform, civil justice reform and local employee empowerment zones.
These are common sense reforms that address specific measures of improvement and are designed to fix the broken system and improve the business climate in the state of Illinois to attract more businesses. In turn, this will bring more jobs and retain the thousands of families that are moving out of the State.
So how can you get involved?
The Illinois Chamber has created a one-stop-shop website that educates on the above four topics. The website, www.ilturnaround.com, gives you the opportunity to take action on each issue by signing your name to a letter that will be sent to your representatives in the General Assembly, sharing your story, and signing your name to the petition to turnaround Illinois.
For too long the narrative in Illinois has been the same thing. It’s time to change that narrative. Governor Rauner’s proposals outlined on the IL Turnaround website offer a brand new narrative. But your legislators need to hear from you!
Your voice matters on these issues and www.ilturnaround.com provides a quick and easy tool for you to make your voice heard and to send a message to the General Assembly that these are serious topics that deserve serious debate.
It’s now or never to get behind these efforts and to join in the turnaround of Illinois!
We're Staying Put!
The Zion Area Chamber of Commerce is changing its name and structure. The new entity, called Lake County’s Lakeshore Chamber & Visitors Bureau, will encompass consolidated efforts by our four municipalities (Beach Park, Wadsworth, Winthrop Harbor and Zion) to increase tourism in the area.
A letter announcing this change was recently sent to all area businesses and mistakenly stated there would be one Chamber for the municipalities.
That is incorrect.
The Winthrop Harbor Chamber of Commerce will continue to operate as a separate entity but will participate as a member of the new group.
As a Chamber we will continue to work closely with the Village’s Economic Development Office and the Winthrop Harbor Tourism Board. As ever, our efforts remain concentrated on supporting and enhancing the businesses located in Winthrop Harbor.
In addition, we look forward to joining the new Lake County’s Lakeshore Chamber & Visitor’s Bureau so as to jointly promote and increase customer traffic for our regional businesses.
